FPGA implementation of Lempel-Ziv data compression

When transmitting the data in digital communication, it is well desired that bits should be as minimal possible, so many techniques are used to compress data. In this paper, a Lempel-Ziv algorithm for compression was implemented through VHDL coding. One of most lossless algorithms commonly Lempel-Ziv. The work paper devoted improve rate, space-saving, and utilization using systolic array approach. developed design validated with simulations Xilinx ISE 14.5 synthesized on Virtex-6 FPGA chip. results show our efficient providing high rates space-saving percentage improved utilization. Throughput increased by 50% area decreased more than 23% ratio compared comparable previous designs.
